Scott AbsherCo-Founder and chief executive officer
As co-founder and chief executive officer of ShiftPixy, Scott Absher brings 30 years of experience in organizational development, capital development and employment industry expertise to the company. Absher started his career in product development and support, serving large national retail chains before turning his focus to the employer services industry.
Mr. Absher has held a number of high-level executive, business development, sales and marketing and management positions with various companies, building and launching a number of successful product lines and companies focused on business-to-business products and services.
Since 1994 Mr. Absher has enjoyed significant involvement in the business services and employer service industries. He has built and trained many national sales organizations and independent agent forces to deliver predictable growth in the business service industry. His work in the development and launch of captive insurance programs and platforms brings a unique and rare insurance competence to ShiftPixy.
Mr. Absher has advised firms in technology and business service-related ventures in matters of capital formation, liquidity, and growth strategy. He has been actively involved in the early stage fundraising, business strategy and development efforts of many startup ventures throughout his career. He is a graduate of The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago majoring in Theology.
Patrice H. LaunayChief Financial Officer
Patrice Launay joined ShiftPixy in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing with him an extensive accounting background spanning nearly 20 years at various regional and multinational accounting firms. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he spent six years. Launay then spent two years at Groupe Roullier as Corporate Controller, and the following two years as an audit Manager for the City Auditor Office of the City of Long Beach, California, where he led several audits to help prevent and deter fraud within the city’s programs.
From 2011 to 2016 Mr. Launay worked for BDO USA and was involved in the audits of several listed and non-listed companies in the US and Australia. Immediately before joining ShiftPixy, Launay served as a financial and accounting manager for RxSight, Inc., providing month-end close assistance, designing and implementing effective controls, and drafting accounting procedures.
Mr. Launay holds a master’s degree from the Business School of Tours (ESCEM) France with a major in Finance and Accounting, is a Certified Public Accountant (Active) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (Inactive), and holds a Series 65 securities license.
Steve Holmes, a seasoned human capital management (HCM) executive and accomplished entrepreneur, is co-founder of ShiftPixy. With nearly 30 years of experience in human resources services, Holmes has established a track record for helping small and midmarket businesses (SMBs) through Fortune 500 companies drive efficiency in HCM initiatives and has successfully founded and sold five human resources services businesses, all of which are still operating today.
Most recently, Holmes founded workforce management services and solutions provider XccelerateHR and served as the chief operating officer and vice president of sales. Prior to that, he founded and held executive and strategy-driven roles with Atlas Resources Inc. (formerly U.S. National Employee Leasing), Consolidated Personnel and Professional Employee Solutions.
Throughout his career, Holmes has remained steadfast in his desire to build client-focused workforce management businesses that help companies offload administrative duties, navigate compliance requirements and gain greater operational efficiency. Holmes attended the University of New Mexico on a full-ride football scholarship and majored in business administration and management.
Clark WilsonChief Marketing Officer
Clark Wilson serves as chief marketing officer for ShiftPixy overseeing all marketing initiatives including planning, development, communications, and branding. With more than 40 years of experience in marketing, advertising, and public relations with consumer goods and services companies, and in the health care, restaurant/fast food and retail industries, Wilson possesses proven expertise in successful product and services development from concept to completion.
A seasoned marketing strategist, Wilson most recently served as co-founder and principal of Livingston, Wilson & Associates Inc., a marketing, advertising and business-consulting firm regarded for its ability to effectively leverage analytics to develop actionable plans that optimize marketing efforts and drive results.
Prior to that he served as senior vice president of business development for global strategic marketing communications firm Cochrane Chase, Livingston & Co. (CCL; now Saatchi & Saatchi), where he worked with marquee clients around the world. Wilson supported the expansion of client Carl’s Jr. from a corporate-owned business model to include franchising, and its transition from private to publicly-traded company. As part of the CCL management team, Wilson shaped the strategic vision and growth of the company, and he created the agency’s first business development plan which established an enduring infrastructure that resulted in a 130% increase in billing.
Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing communications from the University of Southern California.
Mark AbsherRegistered In-House Counsel
Mark Absher serves as in-house legal counsel for ShiftPixy, bringing 25 years of corporate, litigation, nonprofit and law firm experience to the company. With an extensive background in transactions, insurance, nonprofit and employment law, Absher has been instrumental in securing significant settlements and negotiated results on behalf of his clients. He was invited by the National Association of Alternative Staffing (now known as P.A.C.E.) to serve as counsel to assist in drafting and lobbying for industry-related legislation before federal House and Senate Committees.
Most recently, Absher served as Associate General Counsel to LifeWay, a national publishing, retail and events organization based in Nashville, where he represented the organization in numerous commercial transactions, including 23 completed acquisitions and divestitures, the most sizeable of which is the organization’s sale of its headquarters campus, which ranks among the largest private land sales in the history of downtown Nashville. Prior to that, Absher served as corporate counsel for the National Community Foundation and in various legal and advisory roles for three businesses in the staffing industry, including ServiceMaster Employer Services, Inc., Sharp Services, Inc., and T.T.C., Illinois, Inc.
Absher graduated cum laude from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English education. He received his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and maintains active licenses to practice law in Tennessee and Illinois. An avid writer, Absher has written two screenplays that have registered as finalists in national screenplay competitions.
