Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
As co-founder and chief executive officer of ShiftPixy, Scott Absher brings 30 years of experience in organizational development, capital development and employment industry expertise to the company. Absher started his career in product development and support, serving large national retail chains before turning his focus to the employer services industry.
Mr. Absher has held a number of high-level executive, business development, sales and marketing and management positions with various companies, building and launching a number of successful product lines and companies focused on business-to-business products and services.
Since 1994 Mr. Absher has enjoyed significant involvement in the business services and employer service industries. He has built and trained many national sales organizations and independent agent forces to deliver predictable growth in the business service industry. His work in the development and launch of captive insurance programs and platforms brings a unique and rare insurance competence to ShiftPixy.
Mr. Absher has advised firms in technology and business service-related ventures in matters of capital formation, liquidity, and growth strategy. He has been actively involved in the early stage fundraising, business strategy and development efforts of many startup ventures throughout his career. He is a graduate of The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago majoring in Theology.
Mr. Sebes joined the board in February 2020 as an independent director. Mr. Sebes is a widely respected restaurant technology entrepreneur and Forbes Council Member, who created Twenty20 Visual Systems, the first-ever Microsoft Windows POS company, and went on to become the CEO of Progressive Software. From there, he founded Xpient Solutions, for which he served as CEO for over a decade. As President of Xenial Inc., formerly Heartland Commerce until its acquisition by Global Payments in 2016, he led the acquisition of several restaurant technology companies and exceeded Global Payments’ financial performance expectations. Mr. Sebes graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant management.
Mr. White joined the board as an independent director on September 28, 2017. He will serve on the Audit Committee and will also serve as chairman of the Compensation Committee and the Nominations Committee. From April 2017, Mr. White has been Chief Operating Officer & Chief Technology Officer of Prime Trust, LLC, a Nevada chartered trust company. Prior to his service with Prime Trust, Mr. White spent 17 years with W.R. Hambrecht + Co., LLC., an investment banking, advisory and brokerage firm that was the underwriter of ShiftPixy’s recently completed Regulation A offering. During his tenure with W.R. Hambrecht + Co., he served in various key roles, including Chief Technology Officer and most recently as Managing Director, Equity Capital Markets. Mr. White earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science & psychology from Hamilton College, a master of business administration degree in finance and accounting from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, and he also received a master of business administration degree in technology and entrepreneurship from the University of California Berkeley’s Hass School of Business. Mr. White holds a Series 79 license as an Investment Banking Representative, a Series 24 license as a General Securities Principal, and a Series 7 license as a General Securities Representative.
Kenneth W. Weaver
Kenneth W. Weaver became ShiftPixy’s first independent director on December 5, 2016. Mr. Weaver currently serves as the chairman and only director of the Audit Committee, Compensation Committee and Nominations Committee. Since April 2012 to date, Mr. Weaver has been the sole proprietor of Ken Weaver Consulting, providing operations consulting for TVV Capital, a Nashville Private Equity firm. Before his service with TVV, Mr. Weaver spent over 30 years with Bridgestone Corporation, having served in various responsible leadership roles, including as President, Bridgestone North American Tire Commercial Sales, Chief Financial Officer, Bridgestone Americas and Chairman, CEO and President, Firestone Diversified Products. Mr. Weaver earned both his bachelor’s degree in business and his masters of business administration degree from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Weaver’s substantial financial background qualifies him as an audit committee financial expert under applicable rules.
Amanda Murphy has served as a director since February 10, 2020. Prior to her election to our board of directors, Ms. Murphy served and continues to serve as our Director of Operations and has been vital to our success and growth in that position. Ms. Murphy has been active in the operations side of the staffing industry at a senior level since 2007. Ms. Murphy received her certificate in HR Management from California State University – Long Beach in 2007. Ms. Murphy also studied law at Taylor University in Selango, Malaysia.
